Hot Weather and Thunderstorms to Hit Several Moroccan Provinces Over the Weekend


Rabat: Hot weather conditions and local thunderstorms with a risk of hail are expected from Friday to Monday in several provinces across the Kingdom, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announced.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, temperatures ranging between 40°C and 43°C are forecast from Friday to Monday in the provinces of Tata, Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Aousserd, and Oued Ed-Dahab, as stated by the DGM in an orange-level weather alert bulletin.



The same phenomenon, with temperatures oscillating between 38°C and 41°C, will affect from Saturday to Monday the provinces of Taounate, Settat, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Khemisset, Fez, Sidi Slimane, Khouribga, Sidi Kacem, Fquih Ben Salah, Meknes, Moulay Yacoub, and Ouezzane.



In addition, local thunderstorms bringing rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm, along with a risk of hail, are expected on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the provinces of Beni Mellal, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Azilal, and Kh©nifra, the same source added.
