Israeli forces assault youth in Jalazone camp raid

Israeli occupation forces Friday assaulted a Palestinian youth in the course of a raid in Jalazone refugee camp, north of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, according to eyewitnesses.

They said that the occupation soldiers beat up a youth and briefly held him handcuffed in a military vehicle in the camp.

A viral video footage shows the young man handcuffed and lying on the roadside at the camp entrance.

Meanwhile, the occupation forces conducted a similar raid in Dura al-Qari’ village, northeast of Ramallah.

The gun-toting soldiers fired volleys of tear gas canisters and removed Palestine flags as well as posters commemorating a young man, who was killed by Israeli colonists in an attack a year ago.

In the meantime, Israeli forces barged their way into the Khalayel al-Louz village, southeast of Bethlehem, and ransacked several houses, turning them upside down.

They set up a checkpoint at the village entrance, stopping Palestinian-registered vehicles and inspecting passengers’ identity cards.

The
occupation forces frequently conduct raids daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for ‘wanted’ Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law army commanders have full executive, legislative and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
