Israeli forces beat up Palestinian south of Nablus

NABLUS: Israeli occupation forces today beat up a Palestinian youth to the south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to local sources. They said that the gun-toting soldiers brutally assaulted the youth, identified as a resident of the Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya village, after stopping him at the entrance of the village, at a time when they set up a checkpoint at the entrance, stopping Palestinian-registered vehicles and provocatively checking passengers' identity cards. Israeli severely restricts Palestinians' freedom of movement through a complex combination of over 100 fixed checkpoints, flying checkpoints, settler-only roads and various other physical obstructions. Closures besides to other measures, taken under the guise of security, are intended to entrench Israel's 57-year-old military occupation of the West Bank and its settler colonial project which it enforces with routine and frequently deadly violence against Palestinians.
