Israeli forces demolish house in Jerusalem-area town

JERUSALEM: Israeli occupation forces Tuesday began demolishing a house in the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Local sources said that the occupation municipality crews in Jerusalem, accompanied by Israeli police officers, stormed Al-Bustan neighborhood with demolition vehicles, and began demolishing the house of local resident Younis Odeh under the pretext that it was built without a permit.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, the demolitions during the current month may be equivalent to the total number of demolitions by the occupation forces in the city during the first half of the current year 2024, in which the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission counted 243 demolitions in the West Bank, including 318 facilities, including 64 in Jerusalem, which included 85 facilities.

The pretexts for the demolition varied, but most of them were due to building without a permit, at a time when Jerusalemites cannot obtain building permits from the occupation authorities.
