Joint statement by Bahrain-Brazil foreign ministries on 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations

Manama, The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and Bahrain are pleased to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Since June 26, 1974, the nations have nurtured a fruitful partnership characterized by mutual respect, cooperation, and shared values. In August 2018, Bahrain opened its embassy in Brasília, marking its first diplomatic mission in Latin America. This milestone was followed by the establishment of Brazil's embassy in Manama in 2021. Bahrain and Brazil have engaged, since 2018, in periodic political consultations meetings, the most recent of which took place in Manama in 2022. This mechanism has been instrumental in enhancing diplomatic dialogue and addressing common challenges and opportunities. Trade between Bahrain and Brazil has seen remarkable growth over the past three years. In 2023, bilateral trade flows surpassed USD 1.3 billion, underscoring the robust economic ties between our nations. Brazil has emerged as one of the main exporters to Bahrain, cont ributing significantly to the economic partnership of both countries. Brazil and Bahrain share a common interest in promoting a more prosperous and fair global order, in which peace and inclusive and sustainable development prevail. Both countries are committed to working together to advance these shared goals on the international stage. Celebrating the fiftieth anniversary, the Kingdom reaffirms its determination to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Bahrain and Brazil.
