Jordanian FM urges UN Security Council to curb Israel’s aggression, protect regional security

AMMAN: Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi stressed today the need for the UN Security Council to act immediately to curb the Israeli aggression and protect the region from its disastrous consequences.

Safadi said via the X platform that Israel’s aggression on Lebanon was caused by the international inability to stop its aggression on Gaza, adding that Israel continues to push the region towards the abyss of a comprehensive regional war because the international community failed to protect its laws and values.

He added that Israel is escalating its war on Lebanon during the United Nations General Assembly meetings in defiance of the organization and its resolutions that demanded Israel stop the aggression and abide by international law.

“We stand in solidarity with brotherly Lebanon and condemn the Israeli aggression against it, and we stress the need to impose commitment to Security Council Resolution 1701,” he said.

Safadi stressed that the escala
tion must stop immediately before it is too late, affirming that it is an international responsibility that the UN Security Council must bear immediately.
