Rabat: The Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held a meeting with the President of Senegal’s National Assembly, Malick Ndiaye, during Ndiaye’s working visit to Morocco with a parliamentary delegation.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ndiaye reaffirmed Senegal’s steadfast support for Morocco’s territorial integrity. He praised the UN Security Council resolution 2797, which recognized the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a credible solution to the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara. He also emphasized the strong parliamentary ties between Senegal’s National Assembly and Morocco’s House of Representatives, noting their efforts to enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation, exchange experiences, and coordinate actions in various parliamentary forums.
Talbi Alami highlighted the historic ties between the two nations, noting shared values and objectives. He commended the quality of parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative bodies. Talbi Alami also stressed the importance of joint efforts for Africa’s development, referencing Strategic Initiatives by King Mohammed VI that aim to address Africa’s challenges and boost prosperity in the region.
He specifically mentioned initiatives like the Royal Atlantic Initiative, which seeks to connect Sahel countries to the Atlantic coastline, as well as the African Atlantic States Process (AASP) and the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline, as examples of Morocco’s commitment to Africa’s development.
