Rabat: The Vice-President of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Ghayat, held talks on Thursday in Rabat with Claudia Roth, the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the Maghreb States at the German Bundestag. Roth is currently leading a parliamentary delegation on a working visit to Morocco.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Ghayat praised the strength of the relations between Morocco and Germany, which are grounded in mutual respect and trust. These relations reflect both countries’ determination to enhance stability and security. Ghayat highlighted the growth in bilateral relations, facilitated by strategic dialogue, and commended Germany’s supportive stance on Morocco’s territorial integrity and autonomy proposal to resolve regional disputes.
Ghayat emphasized the importance of strengthening dialogue and increasing exchanges of visits between the Moroccan House of Representatives and the Bundestag. He also suggested invigorating the parliamentary friendship group to boost cooperation between the two legislative bodies.
The Vice-President expressed optimism about the prospects of enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in sectors such as renewable energy and infrastructure. He pointed out that the meeting presents an opportunity to encourage German investment in Morocco, especially in projects related to green hydrogen.
Roth stated that the visit aims to explore ways to strengthen cooperation between Germany and Morocco in areas such as energy, climate change, and migration. She reiterated that the relations between the two nations are built on mutual respect and trust.
The German parliamentary delegation, accompanying Roth, includes MP Carl-Philipp Sassenrath from the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) and MP Johann Martel from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
