Accra: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, engaged in discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Tuesday in Accra. This meeting took place on the sidelines of their co-chairing duties at the 2nd session of the Joint Cooperation Committee. The talks highlighted the satisfaction with the progress achieved in bilateral cooperation since King Mohammed VI’s visit to Ghana in February 2017.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the two ministers acknowledged the increasing presence of Moroccan businesses in Ghana, particularly in sectors like banking, housing, and infrastructure. They advocated for Ghanaian investments in Morocco, emphasizing the need to enhance reciprocal investment flows and public-private partnerships, especially in emerging sectors such as green energy, logistics, and the digital economy.

The ministers reiterated their commitment to deepen cooperation in priority sectors of mutual interest and expressed a shared ambition to expand collaboration to other areas, including industry, hydrocarbons, mining, energy efficiency, customs cooperation, postal services, and agriculture.

In terms of trade, Bourita and Ablakwa recognized the potential for increased commerce between the two nations. They agreed to promote economic missions, B2B meetings, trade fairs, and exhibitions to boost exchanges and improve the trade balance. To support these initiatives, they consented to periodically organize a private-sector-led “Ghana-Morocco Economic and Investment Forum” on a rotating basis.
