according to a Moroccan diplomatic source. In this regard, the Kingdom of Morocco is ready to collaborate with its Spanish and European partners to repatriate unaccompanied minors, they stated.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the same source lamented that “each time the immigration debate resurfaces, some voices accuse Morocco of not cooperating, or of being against the return of these unaccompanied minors, just as this case in Spain.”

“Certain political actors weaponize this issue for electoral ends, whereas the reality is much different, having nothing to do with such insinuations,” they pointed out. “These insinuations are fallacious and baseless,” according to the diplomatic source. “Morocco has always honored its commitments, and the problem always lies in the administrativ
e and legal hurdles that thwart any repatriation,” they said.

The source underscored that the Kingdom of Morocco “can in no case accept this alibi as a political lever to state that it refuses to cooperate or is uninterested in this issue.” They emphasized that if the partners want to work to foster the return of these minors, they should focus internally to overcome the obstacles posed by their legislation and administrative and legal powers regarding this operation.
