Moroccan Goalkeeper Bounou Expresses Confidence Ahead of Clash with Netherlands


Rabat: Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou displayed confidence and determination on Sunday on the eve of the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup against the Netherlands. At a pre-match press conference, the Atlas Lions goalkeeper insisted on the concentration and state of mind of the group, fully focused on this decisive meeting scheduled for Monday at Monterey Stadium.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Bounou emphasized the team’s preparation and readiness to face the Netherlands. “We are focused on our work. It’s an exceptional moment for each of us. We are going to play a big round of 32 against a great team from the Netherlands. We can’t wait to take on this challenge and do everything to win it,” said Bounou.



The Moroccan goalkeeper also highlighted his team’s preparation, ensuring that all players are ready to take on the challenge. “Everyone is aware of the importance of this meeting. We are motivated to achieve a great performance,” he added.



Referring to the reception given to the Moroccan selection in Mexico, one of the host countries of the tournament, Bounou did not hide his satisfaction. “We are very happy to be here. We feel a lot of affection from the Mexican people. It is a country that is passionate about football and that makes us very happy,” he concluded.



Morocco will face the Netherlands with the ambition of securing a place in the round of 16 and continuing their journey in this World Cup.
