Vienna: A Moroccan parliamentary delegation took part in the proceedings of the 24th Winter Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), held on February 19-20 at the Hofburg Congress Center in Vienna.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this participation is part of an ongoing initiative by the Moroccan Parliament to enhance its diplomatic efforts, emphasizing its commitment to participating in multilateral parliamentary forums and engaging in international discussions on security, stability, and sustainable development.
The participation highlights Morocco’s resolve to strengthen cooperation and political dialogue with its partners, particularly within Europe, aiming to serve mutual interests and improve understanding and rapprochement.
The session featured comprehensive discussions across the four committees of the Parliamentary Assembly. Participants explored various international issues, with a focus on enhancing international security
and peace mechanisms amidst rapid geopolitical changes, adhering to the Helsinki principles.
The meetings also delved into safeguarding electoral processes against hybrid threats and external interference, and examined the interplay between geo-economics, technology, and security, addressing the challenges and opportunities arising in a swiftly changing global environment.
On the sidelines, the Moroccan delegation engaged in high-level discussions with Pere Joan Pons, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and Pascal Allizard, its Special Representative for Mediterranean Affairs.
During these meetings, Morocco was acknowledged as a reliable and stable regional partner. Both parties expressed a mutual interest in expanding bilateral cooperation to encompass new strategic issues, recognizing Morocco’s pivotal role as a bridge between the Euro-Mediterranean and African regions.
Morocco’s Parliament holds the status of Mediterranean Partner for Cooperation with the OSCE.

sed MP Marouane Chbaatou from the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group and MP Khalid Hatimy from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) group, representing the House of Representatives. From the House of Councillors, Councillor Chaimae Zemzami of the RNI group and Councillor Lahcen Ait Isha of the PAM group were present.
Numerous parliamentary delegations from member states and partner countries, along with experts, diplomatic representatives, and academics specializing in strategic issues on the Organization’s agenda, also participated in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s Winter Session.
