Moroccan Police Seizes Nearly 7K Psychotropic Pills, Arrests Four Individuals


Marrakech: Judicial police in Marrakech, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), seized some 6,934 psychotropic tablets, according to a security source.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, during this operation, four individuals, aged from 25 to 33, including a pharmacist, were arrested for their alleged involvement in a drug and psychotropics trafficking case.



The first suspect was apprehended in flagrante delicto, trafficking hallucinogenic tablets in a neighborhood in Marrakech. The same source reported that searches led to the seizure of 1,500 ‘Zepam’ type tablets in his possession.



Ongoing searches and investigations led to the arrest of three other individuals, including a pharmacist, for alleged involvement in this criminal activity. The same source added that searches resulted in the seizure of a further 5,434 psychotropic tablets.



The suspects were subjected to the judicial investigation procedures carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. This was done with a view to determining all the possible ramifications of this criminal activity and shedding light on all the charges brought against the suspects.
