Moroccan Provinces Face Thunderstorms, Scorching Heat in Coming Days


Rabat: Thunderstorms with hail, gusty winds and a heat wave are expected in several Moroccan provinces, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) reported Saturday. Thunderstorms with hail and gusty winds (20-30 mm) are forecast on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Khenifra, Ifrane, Jerada, Boulemane, and Midelt.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, a heat wave (38-40°C) will hit on Sunday the provinces of Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Khouribga, Errachidia, Taroudant, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Settat, El Kelaa Seraghna, Marrakech, Rehamna, Figuig, Jerada, Youssoufia, Khenifra, and Taounate.

Temperatures ranging from 40 to 44°C will affect the provinces of Zagora, Tata, Es-Semara, Assa-Zag, Aousserd, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, and Tinghir on the same day. Similarly, the provinces of Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khenifra, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Ouezzane, Khouribga, Sidi Bennour, Essaouira, Khemisset, and Meknes will experience a heat wave from Monday through Wednesday, with tempera
tures oscillating between 40 and 43°C.

High temperatures (42-45°C) are forecast during the same period in El Kelaa Sraghna, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Tata, Taroudant, Aousserd, Settat, Chichaoua, and Marrakech.
