Casablanca: As a key economic player in Africa, Morocco is actively working to achieve the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Secretary of State to the Minister of Industry and Trade, in charge of Foreign Trade, Omar Hejira, said on Tuesday in Casablanca.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Hejira highlighted Morocco’s commitment to AfCFTA during the opening of the 1st edition of the AfCFTA Business Forum, themed “Intra-African Trade: Prospects and Opportunities.” He emphasized Morocco’s concrete actions, such as establishing a national committee for the free trade agreement and studying a national implementation strategy, as part of its efforts to meet AfCFTA’s objectives.
Hejira pointed out that regional integration serves as a fundamental lever to stimulate economic growth and employment in Africa. He noted that this integration opens promising prospects by reinforcing political cooperation, boosting intra-African trade, and attracting foreign capital. Furthermore, with
initiatives like the Atlantic Alliance, Morocco aims to create an area of peace, stability, and sustainable development, underlining African cooperation as a priority for the nation.
The forum, according to Hejira, presents a crucial opportunity to discuss concrete solutions to the challenges faced by economic operators in the African market. He expressed hope that the recommendations from the forum would reinforce the commitment to AfCFTA, enabling sustainable growth for African economies.
