Luanda: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagnere, affirmed that her country and Morocco are aligned in their commitment to fostering a world that is peaceful, integrated, fair, and prosperous on both regional and international platforms.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Wagnere highlighted the shared principles and values between the DRC and Morocco, emphasizing their dedication to territorial integrity, unity, independence, and sovereignty. This statement was made during her meeting with Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, on the sidelines of the 26th Extraordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) in Luanda.

In her press statement, Wagnere expressed her satisfaction with the longstanding relationship between the two nations, stressing the importance of continuing to strengthen their exemplary ties. She noted the constructive nature of their discussion
s, which focused on consolidating relations and various cooperation frameworks, as well as their mutual commitment to a peaceful and prosperous global community.

Bourita echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the historical strength of the relationship between Morocco and the DRC. He reiterated Morocco’s unwavering support for the DRC’s sovereignty, national unity, and its efforts to protect itself from external interventions. Bourita underscored the principle of non-interference as crucial for peace and stability in Africa.

The meeting also served as a platform to address regional and multilateral issues, especially considering the DRC’s recent election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Bourita expressed Morocco’s support for the DRC as a representative of African interests on this global stage and mentioned the forthcoming Joint Commission meeting in Kinshasa as an important milestone for enhancing bilateral relations.
