Rabat: Prosecutor General of the King at the Court of Cassation and head of the Public Prosecution Office Hicham Balaoui held discussions on Wednesday in Rabat with a delegation from the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya, currently on a visit to the Kingdom to promote partnerships and coordinate efforts on issues of common interest.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, discussions particularly focused on strengthening cooperation between the two parties in the fight against all forms of organized and transnational crime and on ways of exchanging experience and expertise in areas relevant to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The talks were an opportunity to review developments in the Moroccan judicial system, notably the Kingdom’s experience in the independence of the judiciary in general, and of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in particular.
In a statement to the press, Balaoui said the visit was an opportunity to exchange views with members of the delegation from the Kenyan Prosecut
or’s Office, with the aim of implementing the memorandum of understanding both parties signed on February 21, 2023.
They also discussed ways of implementing the MoU and agreed on related programs, aiming for the Kenyan Public Prosecutor’s Office to benefit from Moroccan experience, he said.
He further stated that the objective is to strengthen bilateral cooperation and initiate parallel judicial diplomacy to serve national causes.
The meeting, held as part of a visit to Morocco by the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi, was an opportunity to inform on various projects of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to improve judicial efficiency.
