Rabat: Morocco is set to experience significant weather changes from Saturday to Monday, with snowfall, heavy rain, and cold weather expected to affect several provinces. Snowfall ranging from 10 to 20 cm is anticipated above 1,700 meters on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. in provinces such as Ifrane, Kh©nifra, Midelt, Taza, Sefrou, Boulemane, and B©ni Mellal.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, from Sunday at 12:00 p.m. to Monday at 11:00 p.m., snowfall between 20 to 40 cm is expected above 1,500 meters in provinces including Midelt, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Boulemane, Ifrane, Sefrou, Taza, and Guercif. Additionally, lighter snowfall ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 inches is forecasted in higher-altitude areas of Taourirt, Al Hoceima, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Figuig, Jerada, and Chefchaouen during the same period.
The DGM’s bulletin further indicates that the region should prepare for heavy rain, sometimes accompanied by storms, with expected rainfall of 35 to 60 mm from midnight on Sunday to 9 a.m. on Monday. Affected provinces include Taza, Tetouan, Taounate, Fahs-Anjra, Larache, Tangier-Assilah, Ouezzane, M’diq-Fnideq, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Al Hoceima, and Chefchaouen. In addition, lighter precipitation of 25 to 35 mm will impact the provinces of Driouch, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khenifra, Fez, Sefrou, Khemisset, Rabat, Sidi Slimane, Moulay YaScoub, Sal©, Skhirat-Temara, and Meknes.
The weather forecast also includes cold conditions above 1,600 meters, with temperatures expected to drop to between -8 to -4 °C from Saturday to Sunday in areas such as Boulemane, Ifrane, Midelt, Kh©nifra, Azilal, B©ni Mellal, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Taroudant, and Chichaoua, as noted in the press release.
