Malaga: Morocco’s Lower House Speaker, Rachid Talbi El Alami, Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for Mediterranean (PA-UfM), is actively participating in the 9th Summit of Parliament Speakers in Malaga, taking place on June 26 and 27. The PA-UfM serves as a regional parliamentary body representing 43 countries across the northern and southern Mediterranean regions.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the summit gathers leaders of legislative bodies from the 27 European Union member states, the European Parliament, and several other nations including Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Monaco, and Montenegro. It also features representatives from the 11 southern Mediterranean parliaments, with Morocco being a significant participant.
Morocco’s involvement extends to the PA-UfM 18th plenary session, which was inaugurated by Francina Armengol, President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies. The session unites 280 members comprising deputies and senators from various member parliaments.
During this event, the Assembly’s five committees are set to present their annual recommendations. These are formulated based on the activities and initiatives undertaken throughout the year under the current presidency.
As the Spanish presidency of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean concludes on June 27, the closing session will witness the transition of the Presidency to the Egyptian Parliament, which will lead the 2025-2026 mandate.
