Morocco Expects Snowfall, Heavy Rain & Strong Winds from Sunday to Wednesday in Several Provinces


Rabat: Morocco is set to experience a series of weather changes from Sunday to Wednesday, with forecasts predicting snowfall, heavy rain, and strong winds across various provinces. Snowfall is anticipated to reach between 20 to 40 cm above 1,500 meters from Sunday at noon until Monday at 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Midelt, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khénifra, Boulemane, Ifrane, Sefrou, Taza, and Guercif, as per the DGM’s orange-level alert.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, lighter snowfall, ranging from 5 to 15 cm, is expected during the same period in Taourirt, Al Hoceima, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Figuig, Jerada, and Chefchaouen. From Tuesday at midnight to Wednesday at 9 a.m., snowfall between 10 to 30 cm is anticipated above 1,500 meters in Al Hoceima, Sefrou, Boulemane, Ifrane, Midelt, Taza, and Guercif.

In addition to snowfall, heavy rain, sometimes accompanied by stormy conditions and gusts of wind, is expected from Sunday morning to Monday morning across Taza, Tetouan, Taounate, Larache, F
ahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Ouezzane, Tangier-Assilah, M’diq-Fnideq, Al Hoceima, Kenitra, and Sidi Kacem, according to the DGM. These areas could see rainfall amounts between 35 to 60 mm.

Meanwhile, rainfall ranging from 25 to 35 mm is predicted to impact the provinces of Driouch, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Khenifra, Beni Mellal, Fez, Sefrou, Khemisset, Rabat, Sidi Slimane, Moulay Yaacoub, Salé, Skhirat-Temara, and Meknes.

The DGM also forecasts strong gusts of wind, between 75-85 km/h, from Sunday evening to Monday night in Tinghir, Sidi Ifni, Boulemane, Midelt, Ifrane, Guelmim, and Ouarzazate.
