Morocco Fully Embraces Its Continental Role – AfDB Official

Rabat: Morocco is fully embracing its African role, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, stated the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Country Official for Morocco, Achraf Tarsim. “Over the decades, Morocco has managed to combine ambition and resilience, building its development over the long term,” Tarsim told MAP on the sidelines of the AfDB annual meetings held in Abidjan through May 30.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Tarsim emphasized that the solid partnership between the Kingdom and the Bank transcends the bilateral relations, which contributes to a wider continental vision. “At the AfDB, we are proud to stand together with the Kingdom, a stable and emerging country thanks to the vision and action of HM King Mohammed VI,” he added.

In this regard, Tarsim underscored that the historical reconstitution of the African Development Fund in Tangier in 2022, accompanied by a record mobilization amounting to 10 billion dollars, stands as clear evidence of this, as does the organization of two consecutive editions of Africa Investment Forum (AIF), which have helped catalyze multi-billion dollar investments aimed at transforming and integrating the continent.

The AfDB continues to play a leading part in the intra-African investment dynamic, Tarsim asserted, particularly given the growing complementarity of the industrial value chain across Africa.

This strategic direction is supported by a joint study conducted in late 2024 with the Moroccan General Confederation of Enterprises (CGEM), which sheds light on opportunities in key sectors such as the car, electrical, and textile industries, said Tarsim.

He also reaffirmed the AfDB’s unwavering commitment to supporting Morocco, its leading partner on the continent.
