Morocco: Morocco is participating, for the first time in an official capacity, in Gamescom, the world’s largest video game trade show, whose 18th edition kicked off Wednesday in Cologne (western Germany). The Kingdom is represented by an institutional delegation and 11 video game development studios, gathered in a 102 m2 pavilion where their creations are being presented to international publishers and investors.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, among the studios present, eight are winners of the Video Game Incubator program, launched by the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication in partnership with the French Embassy in Morocco, while three received awards in the “Game Preview Announcement” category at the Morocco Gaming Expo 2026. Morocco’s participation in Gamescom 2026 aims to accelerate the studios’ international expansion and their integration into the sector’s global value chains, Nissrine Souissi, the ministry’s director of gaming industry development, explained on this occasi

It was unveiled on the sidelines of the 3rd Morocco Gaming Expo, which was inaugurated by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan. This year’s event ran from May 20 to 24, 2026, and drew over 80,000 visitors to Rabat, with 24 countries represented, 100 Moroccan exhibitors, and 48 international investors. Morocco’s attendance in Cologne this year is part of the national strategy implemented since 2021 to make Morocco an African hub for the video game industry by 2032, according to the ministry.

Gamescom is the world’s largest event dedicated to computer and video games, bringing together the international gaming community and the entire industry in Cologne and online. According to organizers, the event, held jointly by Koelnmesse and German video game industry association ‘game’ from August 26 to 30, will host more than 1,600 exhibitors and showcase over 800 games.
