Rabat: “Morocco has committed, in line with the High Royal Instructions issued to the ministries of the Interior and the Foreign Affairs, to identifying unaccompanied minors to facilitate their return to their homeland,” according to a Moroccan diplomatic source.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Kingdom of Morocco is ready to collaborate with its Spanish and European partners to repatriate unaccompanied minors. The source lamented that whenever the immigration debate resurfaces, some voices accuse Morocco of not cooperating or opposing the return of unaccompanied minors, as seen in the case of Spain.

The diplomatic source highlighted that certain political actors use this issue for electoral purposes, while the reality is different. They stated that insinuations against Morocco are “fallacious and baseless” and emphasized that Morocco has always honored its commitments. The source explained that administrative and legal hurdles are the real obstacles to repatriation efforts.

The source further
stressed that Morocco cannot accept using the issue as a political tool to suggest non-cooperation or disinterest. They urged partners to address internal legislative and administrative challenges to facilitate the successful return of unaccompanied minors.
