Rabat: Morocco and the United Kingdom have engaged in discussions to enhance their cooperation in the transport sector. During this meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with the strong bilateral relations, which are a testament to the longstanding friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the discussions also highlighted the alignment of views between Morocco and the UK on numerous issues of shared interest. Both countries commended the ongoing coordination between London and Rabat on strategic international matters.
During the first eight months of the current year, the number of passengers traveling between the two countries exceeded 2 million, marking a 22.64% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, as noted by the minister. This surge in traffic is largely facilitated by airlines such as Ryanair UK Limited, Royal Air Maroc, Easy Jet Airline CO. LDT, Jet2.Com, British Airways PLC, and Air Arabia Maroc.
The minister also emphasized that the bilateral relations are governed by an air services agreement signed in 2017, allowing for the multi-designation of companies, the use of traffic rights, tariff liberalization, and cooperation among companies in both countries. He further mentioned that international passenger air traffic between Morocco and the UK saw an average annual growth rate of 9.17% from 2009 to 2019.
