Rabat: The Atlas Lions, Morocco’s national team, are setting their sights on winning the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), which will be held in Morocco, calling it their primary goal.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, in a press statement following their 2-0 victory over Tanzania in the 6th match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Moroccan team highlighted the significance of competing in the CAN on home soil, in front of their supporters.
In this regard, forward Brahim Diaz stated that the victory over Tanzania is auspicious. “We will be playing in our country, in front of our supporters, and this motivates us to perform at our best.”
“We’ve got some real quality in our team, and we’re going to show fighting spirit to be at our best at the CAN.” Diaz expressed his satisfaction with the victory over Tanzania, “a tough match”, as the opposing team focused on defense.
Achraf Hakimi, the national team captain, acknowledged that the CAN is around the corner. “It’s our primary goal. Winning this competition at home is a great responsibility for us.”
For his part, Eliesse Ben Seghir shared his satisfaction that the national team has won all of its World Cup qualifying matches so far. “We are very happy with our performance,” the AS Monaco player told the press, vowing to redouble their efforts and not stop here.
Abdessamad Ezzalzouli emphasized that the match against Tanzania was difficult, but the Atlas Lions maintained their pace to eventually score and win the match.
The Real Betis player also took the opportunity to thank the Moroccan supporters for their continuous support during all the national team’s matches.
