Abidjan: Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah is attending the 2025 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB), currently taking place in Abidjan through May 30. In her capacity as Governor of the AfDB for Morocco, Fettah is taking part in the governors’ dialogue, which this year focuses on ways to fully leverage Africa’s assets to promote its development.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, a key objective of the dialogue is to strengthen the economic sovereignty of African countries, better leverage their internal resources, forge more equitable partnerships, and promote inclusive, sustainable, and resilient growth. The event aims to catalyze an in-depth debate on the continent’s capacity to take charge of its own development, relying on effective public policies, balanced strategic partnerships, and strengthened regional integration.
The Board of Governors will elect a new president of the AfDB on Thursday to succeed Akinwumi Adesina, who has held the position since 2015. This year’s Annual Meetings, which bring together over 6,000 participants, is intended as a key platform to discuss the continent’s development directions, review economic performance, and adopt the broad outlines of the Bank’s strategy.
