Morocco’s Flag Carrier Launches New Casablanca-Catania Direct Flight Route


Rabat: Morocco’s flag carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), announced the launch of a new direct flight route connecting Casablanca to Catania in Sicily, Italy, starting June 28, 2025. This route will operate twice a week on Mondays and Saturdays using Boeing 737 aircraft. Flights will depart from Casablanca at 3:20 p.m. local time and arrive in Catania at 7:40 p.m. local time. The return flights will leave Catania at 8:40 p.m. local time, landing in Casablanca at 11:35 p.m. local time.



According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, with the launch of the Casablanca-Catania route, Royal Air Maroc expands its network in Italy, increasing the number of Italian cities served from Casablanca to seven, including Milan, Rome, Bologna, Turin, Venice, and Naples. This new service aims to meet the growing demand from clientele such as Moroccans and African diasporas living in Italy, Italian tourists exploring Morocco’s cultural and seaside attractions, and passengers connecting via Royal Air Maroc’s Casablanca hub to other international destinations.



Hamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, stated, “The launch of the Casablanca-Catania route marks a key milestone in our development strategy and reflects our ambition to strengthen our presence in Italy, particularly in the south of the country. This new service meets the expectations of our citizens residing in Sicily and opens up new opportunities for African and Italian travelers.”



He further mentioned that the new route aims to strengthen tourism flows between Italy and Morocco and address the increasing demand for connectivity. Additionally, it offers an enhanced onboard experience aligned with the airline’s continuous improvement objectives for customer service. The Casablanca-Catania line is part of a broader set of new routes to be launched shortly, facilitating travel for Moroccans abroad, particularly to Casablanca and various airports in northern Morocco.



With 45 weekly frequencies scheduled to Italy, Royal Air Maroc reaffirms its commitment to offering flexible, optimal travel solutions tailored to the needs of its passengers, especially the Moroccan and African diasporas based in Italy. The new service underscores the airline’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the Italian market and reinforcing Casablanca’s role as a strategic hub between Europe and Africa.
