Rabat: Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch held talks, here Thursday, with Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), during a meeting attended by Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah. The discussions centered on Morocco’s comprehensive transformation under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, which has positioned the Kingdom among the world’s emerging and stable nations in Africa.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Head of Government emphasized the exceptional partnership between Morocco and AfDB, urging the Bank to enhance its support for major reforms and projects across various sectors. This partnership is conducted under the guidance of HM the King. Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina expressed his appreciation to HM King Mohammed VI for supporting the AfDB, notably during the Africa Investment Forum held in Rabat.
The AfDB President highlighted that Morocco is a leading beneficiary of AfDB investments, with a financial portfolio amounting to $3
.6 billion. The Bank plans to support additional projects valued at $1.5 billion this year. He also expressed the Bank’s willingness to assist Morocco in preparing for the 2030 World Cup by financing key infrastructure upgrades in rail and airport sectors.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the performance of AfDB’s financial portfolio in Morocco, despite global challenges and external crises. The meeting acknowledged the efforts by the Moroccan government to uphold its commitments, reflecting its determination to proceed with its development goals.
