Rabat: The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, met Tuesday in Rabat with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama, Javier Eduardo Martnez-Acha V¡squez, who is on an official working visit to Morocco. In a statement, the House of Representatives said the meeting provided an opportunity to spotlight and praise Morocco’s major structural projects launched under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. These include initiatives to bolster stability, security, and prosperity across Atlantic African nations, improve Sahel countries’ access to the Atlantic Ocean, and advance the African-Atlantic Gas Pipeline.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, these initiatives underscore the Kingdom’s pioneering commitment to South-South cooperation, the Panamanian foreign minister said in the statement. Martnez-Acha V¡squez also reiterated Panama’s steadfast support for the autonomy plan, presented by Morocco in 2007, as the most credible foundation for reaching a durable settlement of the regional dispute.
For his part, Talbi El Alami expressed his gratitude to Martnez-Acha V¡squez for Panama’s position on Morocco’s territorial integrity, affirming that the autonomy plan remains the only serious, credible, and realistic solution to the Sahara conflict.
During their discussions, both parties emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral and multilateral parliamentary relations by sharing experiences and expertise, maintaining continuous dialogue, arranging reciprocal visits, coordinating within regional and international parliamentary forums, and seizing every opportunity to strengthen ties between the two legislatures.
