Washington: Morocco plays a “vital” role as a bridge between Africa and the Americas by promoting dialogue, partnership, and South-South cooperation, stated Albert Ramdin, Secretary General of the Organisation of American States (OAS), based in Washington. The Kingdom has become “an indispensable bridge between Africa and the Americas thanks to our deep ties and its active involvement within the OAS,” emphasized Ramdin at an art exhibition organized Tuesday evening by the Moroccan Embassy in Washington. The event also marked the closing of the Francophonie Month.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, more than just a permanent observer at the Organisation of American States, the Kingdom of Morocco stands out as a “natural partner that speaks the languages of our member states, understands our cultures and shares our history,” Ramdin noted to an audience comprising figures from the cultural and artistic worlds, diplomats, representatives of international organizations, members of the Francophone community,
and leading figures from civil society.
Ramdin highlighted that Morocco is a nation where history, diversity, and creativity speak as one, adding that the Kingdom is “a place where art creates a vibrant dialogue between tradition and modernity, blending earthly colors with the enduring light of the Maghreb.” He further remarked, “This is what culture does: it unites without erasing differences and elevates without excluding. And this is what we need today.”
Speaking about the art exhibition organized by the Moroccan Embassy, the Secretary-General of the OAS praised the initiative, describing it as a valuable means of fostering closer ties between the Americas and Africa. Calling for greater cultural exchange as a means of promoting peace and inclusion, Ramdin also expressed the hope that this event would inspire new collaborations and strengthen sustainable interregional cooperation.
