Marrakech: Thanks to the wisdom and foresight of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara is gaining growing international support, said the President of the Andean Parliament, Gustavo Pacheco Villar.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, in an interview on the sidelines of the 3rd International Forum of Young Socialist and Social Democratic Parliamentarians held in Marrakech, Pacheco Villar emphasized that the foresight of the Sovereign’s Vision is reflected in the support of major world powers such as the United States of America, France, and Spain for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
He noted the growing support from Latin American countries for the Kingdom’s position, while reiterating the Andean Parliament’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its Southern Provinces. Pacheco Villar also highlighted the progress and impressive development momentum of these provinces.
The President of the Andean Parliament expressed his admiration for the development projects in the Kingdom’s southern provinces, specifically mentioning the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Laayoune and the Dakhla Atlantic Port. He also praised the Royal Atlantic Initiative, which aims to open up new prospects for Sahelo-Saharan countries and boost a sustainable regional economic dynamic, as well as the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project. These initiatives, according to him, position the Kingdom as a major player in consolidating and promoting South-South cooperation.
Pacheco Villar affirmed that Morocco’s active presence in Africa and its actions and initiatives in favor of the continent’s countries reflect the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to lasting cooperation. He further commended Morocco for the various reforms carried out under the leadership of His Majesty the King, including major steps towards consolidating the rule of law through the adoption of the 2011 Constitution and the empowerment of women.
