Marrakech: Morocco’s top police chief has been awarded INTERPOL’s highest honor in recognition of his exceptional efforts to enhance security and stability both regionally and internationally. The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance has been instrumental in fostering partnership and solidarity between Arab countries and INTERPOL, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, INTERPOL highlighted that this prestigious award reflects the organization’s high regard for Hammouchi’s unwavering commitment to international cooperation in law enforcement. His significant contributions towards building a safer and more equitable world, as well as his pivotal role in strengthening Arab and international security cooperation, were also emphasized. The honor recognizes his support for joint actions between Arab nations and the international criminal police organization in combating transnational organized crime.
The award ceremony took place in Marrakech during the closing session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-INTERPOL). The event was overseen by the President, Secretary General, and members of the INTERPOL Executive Committee, with delegates from member states and presidents of participating international and regional organizations in attendance.
