Rabat: Muharram 1st of the new Hegira year 1447 will correspond to Friday, June 27, 2025, announced the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs on Thursday. In a press release, the ministry confirmed that the lunar crescent of the month of Muharram has been observed at sunset on Thursday, 29 Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH, corresponding to June 26, 2025.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the confirmation of the lunar crescent sighting indicates that the 1st of Muharram 1447 AH will align with Friday, June 27, 2025. This announcement aligns with the traditional practice of determining the start of the Islamic lunar months based on the observation of the moon.
