National Colloquium on Moroccan Sahara Issue Launches in Rabat

Rabat: The national colloquium on the parliament and the Moroccan Sahara issue commenced on Monday at Morocco’s upper house, spearheaded by the Temporary Thematic Working Group on Territorial Integrity.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this initiative is part of the group’s agenda, which includes activities such as hearing sessions, workshops, and the follow-up of contributions and academic work related to the Moroccan Sahara. The group is also set to study a comprehensive documentary collection addressing various aspects of the subject.

The event occurs amidst the continued progress made by the Kingdom towards resolving the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara. It aligns with efforts to preserve these gains, with parliamentary diplomacy playing a crucial role in strengthening international support for this national issue.

Themed “Parliament and the Moroccan Sahara issue: for efficient parallel diplomacy and effective institutional advocacy,” the conference will produce a report with conclusions and recommendations from political, academic, and civil society participants, as well as experts on the issue.

The Temporary Thematic Working Group on Territorial Integrity was established under the House of Councillors’ rules of procedure.
