Rabat: Palestinian Agriculture Minister Rizq Salimia on Wednesday praised the continued support of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Acharif Agency for farmers in the Al-Quds region, highlighting its role in boosting agricultural development in the city.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Salimia spoke after discussions with Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, the Agency’s Director. He noted that the Agency’s backing, carried out under the directives of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, includes equipment for olive harvesting and the promotion of olive-based products, a key crop in the region.
The discussions between Salimia and Cherkaoui focused on expanding support for Al Quds farmers through projects such as irrigation tank construction and olive seedling distribution. Planned initiatives also aim to strengthen agricultural resilience in the area.
Salimia expressed appreciation for Morocco’s broader support for Palestinians across sectors, including health, education, and agriculture, in Gaza, the West Bank, and Al-Quds.
Cherkaoui highlighted that the visit provided an opportunity to explore new development initiatives and strengthen efforts to protect agricultural land in the Holy City. The agency is also supporting innovation, youth-led projects, and modern irrigation systems.
Salimia is leading a Palestinian delegation of 10 companies participating for the first time in the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), taking place in Meknes.
