Rabat: The Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) aspires to stand out as a political alternative capable of addressing the challenges facing Morocco, said the party’s Secretary-General Mohamed Nabil Benabdellah, calling for active participation in the upcoming elections.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, Benabdellah highlighted that strong electoral participation would support political forces aiming to change public policies and initiate a political and economic process benefiting all segments of society. The PPS is focusing on renewed political elites, particularly engaging young people, women, professionals, and experienced civil society actors.

Benabdellah emphasized that candidate selection across electoral constituencies is grounded in integrity and probity, rejecting practices aimed solely at securing electoral seats at the expense of political ethics. He linked the success of new candidates to strong voter turnout and urged citizens to break with electoral abstention.

In discussing Morocco’s
upcoming major sporting events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup co-hosted with Spain and Portugal, Benabdellah mentioned that the event would place Morocco in the international spotlight. He stressed that the positive image from the competition should reflect progress in democracy, human rights, and social and spatial justice nationwide, beyond just the host cities.

Benabdellah also criticized the current government’s record, attributing growing popular rejection and declining confidence to rising living costs, reduced purchasing power, and the perceived inability of elected institutions to effect tangible improvements in citizens’ daily lives.

Regarding the PPS’s post-election ambitions, Benabdellah stated that the party is capable of assuming government responsibility due to its political line and ability to adapt to Morocco’s realities and constitutional framework while maintaining its progressive left-wing orientation. He called for support for the party’s project, emphasizing that the PPS seeks stron
g electoral participation to gain a leading position on the political scene and pave the way for a democratic alternative that leaves no one behind in development.
