Presidency welcomes UNSC resolution on Gaza, calls for its immediate implementation


RAMALLAH: The Presidency tonight welcomed the passing of a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip that leads to a permanent and sustainable ceasefire. The presidency called for its immediate implementation to preserve the lives of innocent civilians.

The Presidency stressed that the UNSC should ensure the implementation of this important resolution, which has received international consensus.

The Presidency praised the positions of the countries that submitted and supported this resolution which is in line with international law and reflects the international consensus calling for an end to the aggression and the genocidal war waged by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people.

It affirmed that this resolution is a step in the right direction towards a total halt to the aggression, the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the entire Gaza Strip, stopping the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation authorities and terrorist coloni
sts in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and initiating a political process based on international legitimacy and international law to end the occupation and realize the state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Presidency called on the international community to provide relief to the Palestinian people, to immediately deliver humanitarian aid to the entire Gaza Strip through all crossings and to halt the famine faced by our people in Gaza as a result of the ongoing bloody aggression.
