Rabat – Members of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), on Wednesday welcomed the efforts of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, to support the Palestinian cause and defend the Islamic holy sites in Al-Quds Asharif.
During their visit to the headquarters of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency in Rabat following the 52nd PUIC meeting, members of the PUIC Executive Committee were briefed on various aspects of the Agency’s work, reporting to the Al-Quds Committee, as well as its initiatives to protect the holy city.
On this occasion, the Director in Charge of the Management of the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Cherkaoui, highlighted the agency’s achievements over 25 years of action and perseverance, placing it at the forefront of organizations supporting the Holy City and its institutions.
He also pointed out that the Agency’s action is based on a progressive methodology built on realism and setting priorities accord
ing to the needs of the city’s economic and social situation, highlighting some of the projects carried out by the agency in fields of human development and social assistance, rehabilitation and reconstruction, education, youth, women and children. He also highlighted the digital strategy recently launched by the Agency for the benefit of Palestinian youth in Al-Quds in fields of innovation and creativity.
Referring to the Agency’s projects funding, Cherkaoui noted that, in accordance with its statute, the Agency’s financial resources are based on (voluntary) donations from member States, institutions and private individuals, adding that the Agency strives to develop its management methods and bring them up to international quality standards.
In this respect, he called on Arab and Islamic countries to provide financial assistance through the manner they deem appropriate, to help Palestinians continue living on their land.
For his part, PUIC Secretary General Mouhamed Khouraichi Niass expressed, on behalf o
f the Union members, his gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco, prompting the Union’s member states to examine ways of providing assistance and support to the Agency, which is making concrete efforts to help Palestinians face the daily life challenges on their land.
Khouraichi Niass also stressed that the visit to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency was an opportunity to present to the PUIC delegation the pioneering initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom to protect the Holy City and support Palestinian population, noting that the Executive Committee will work to mobilize efforts in support of the Agency.
The agenda for the 52nd meeting of the UPCI Executive Committee, held on September 10 and 11 at Moroccan parliament, included the election of the Bureau, the adoption of the agenda and work program, the reading and adoption of the Secretary General of the Union’s report, the establishment of the draft agenda of Permanent Specialized Committees and Sub-Committees, in addition to the adoption of the draft agenda of the
26th General Committee of the Union and the 19th PUIC Conference.
