Rabat: Qatar has reiterated its support for Morocco’s autonomy plan regarding the Moroccan Sahara, describing it as a “constructive” initiative that forms the basis for any realistic solution to the ongoing issue. This was underlined by the Qatari representative during an address to the members of the 4th Committee of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Qatari diplomat further expressed Qatar’s backing for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to the Moroccan Sahara. These efforts aim to facilitate the achievement of a lasting and compromise political solution within the framework of the political process conducted under the United Nations’ auspices. This support aligns with the Security Council resolutions, including resolution 2756, while respecting Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
