Rabat and Vienna to Initiate Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Rabat: Morocco and Austria announced their determination to usher in “a new era of comprehensive and genuine strategic partnership,” building upon an exceptional shared history dating back over 240 years.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, in a joint Communiqu© issued following the working visit to Vienna by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita, at the invitation of Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger, the two ministers reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepening cooperation in all areas: political, diplomatic, security, economic, cultural, and in terms of exchanges between the two peoples.

Bourita and Meinl-Reisinger also welcomed the strong momentum and significant progress that have marked relations between Morocco and Austria in recent years, particularly since the adoption on March 1, 2023 of the Joint Political Declaration, which serves as a roadmap for all segments of cooperation between the two countries.

In addition, the ministers welcomed the strengthening of relations between the legislative and judicial institutions of the two countries and, in this regard, stressed the importance of interparliamentary contacts, which play a vital role in bolstering bilateral relations, highlighting, in this context, the exchange of official visits between Speakers of the two countries’ parliaments.

Bourita and Meinl-Reisinger also expressed their satisfaction with the increase in trade between Morocco and Austria, as well as the investments made by Austrian companies in Morocco in recent years.

They further welcomed recent progress in industrial cooperation, while expressing the wish to share best practices and develop common projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
