Rabat Hosts Annual Meeting of Police Directors General from Morocco, Spain, and Germany

Rabat: The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, held a tripartite working meeting on Thursday in Rabat with the Director General of the Spanish National Police, Francisco Pardo Piqueras, and the Director General of the German Federal Police, Dieter Romann.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this meeting is part of a visit to Morocco by the Spanish and German security officials, consolidating the process of periodic tripartite meetings among the security chiefs of the three countries, which began during the first meeting held in Madrid in January 2025.

The agenda emphasized ongoing consultations to assess coordination and cooperation in areas of common security and intelligence interest, such as the fight against terrorism, irregular migration, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and sports security coordination.

Senior Moroccan, Spanish, and German security officials attended the meeting, which also reviewed the security situation in the Sahel-Saharan region and its impact on terrorist organizations in the Euro-Mediterranean area.

Participants highlighted the importance of maintaining high levels of coordination and exchanging operational and technical data to ensure security and stability regionally and internationally.

The meeting provided an opportunity to align views on expanding security cooperation and exploring opportunities for on-the-ground complementarity, particularly in preparation for major sporting events like the 2030 World Cup.

The visit allowed the German and Spanish delegations to understand the security protocols in place for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 football competitions, as noted by the same source.

The delegations visited the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, where they were briefed on the sports infrastructure, security arrangements, digital technology integration, deployment plans of public forces, and support for supporters during matches.

The DGSN organized a visit for the German and Spanish delegations to the African Police Cooperation Center, marking an unprecedented initiative in African football competitions.

This visit showcased the modern working means and advanced technological capabilities, fostering cooperation between Moroccan sports security officials and their counterparts among African and foreign liaison officers.

These periodic tripartite security meetings reflect a shared vision to strengthen security partnership against cross-border threats, focusing on the immediate exchange of information and expertise, and operational and technical cooperation among the police and law enforcement services of the three countries, as concluded in the statement.
