Rabat Hosts Regional Workshop on Electronic Advance Data for Postal Services


Rabat: Morocco on Tuesday launched a regional workshop on electronic advance data (EAD) for postal services, bringing together representatives from 11 Arab countries in partnership with the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the workshop is organized by Barid Al-Maghrib and the UPU and aims to enhance the technical skills of postal operators in the region. Held from April 22 to 24 in Rabat, the event offers participants hands-on training in UPU digital systems, including the Customs Declaration System (CDS) and the International Postal System (IPS).

Barid Al-Maghrib Director General Amin Benjelloun Touimi mentioned that the event aligns with Morocco’s broader push to modernize public services through digital transformation. He emphasized the importance of adopting international standards to improve the quality of postal services.

The initiative is part of Barid Al-Maghrib’s commitment to supporting the digital transformation of the postal sector and contributing to regio
nal integration efforts led by the UPU.

Apart from Morocco, the workshop sees participation from Djibouti, Iraq, Jordan, Mauritania, Palestine, Sudan, Oman, Syria, Tunisia, and Yemen.
