Royal Speech to Parliament Sets Out Clear Strategic Objectives, Says Thomas Reilly

Rabat: “It was a powerful speech, both in tone and substance, placing social and spatial justice across the entire Moroccan territory at the forefront of priorities,” Reilly told MAP, stressing that His Majesty the King made it clear that this is a strategic choice of the State and not a mere slogan.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the Royal Speech sets out a clear strategic goal: to improve conditions across all regions, districts, villages, and communities-regardless of their size-ensuring that no one is left behind. It calls for the acceleration of the country’s reform process, particularly through the creation of jobs for young people. The British diplomat noted that the Sovereign stressed that a nation’s wealth and strength are best measured by the effort and attention it devotes to education and health.

The address also conveys the message that this strategic vision “is not, and cannot be, a choice between investing in major infrastructure projects and investing in the social needs of the population,” Reilly underlined. He emphasized that for His Majesty the King, there is no contradiction between progress on these two fronts. Any suggestion that investing in one necessarily or inevitably comes at the expense of the other is to misunderstand the strategic goals and intentions of modern Morocco. The King made it clear that investment in urban areas should not come at the expense of the well-being of rural communities.

The Royal Speech also underscores the need to accelerate the ongoing transformation process in the Kingdom, Reilly added. His Majesty the King has charted a course toward national renewal, strengthened confidence, and deeper pride in what Morocco has accomplished under the Sovereign’s leadership.
