Sadiki at MAP Forum: Need for Public Investment to Create Economic, Agricultural and Rural Momentum

Public investment is necessary to create an economic, agricultural and rural momentum, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, said Wednesday at the MAP Forum.

The MAP Forum organized under the theme: “Generation Green, a strategy for Morocco’s food security ” was an opportunity for the Minister to indicate that investment in productive infrastructure, including infrastructure for irrigation and hydro-agricultural development, agriculture solidarity and development of production chains is necessary to create an economic, agricultural and rural dynamic.

Meanwhile, Sadiki stressed the role of private investment in modernizing farms and adopting new technologies to improve productivity, noting that significant private investment has been mobilized through the reform of the incentives system, the Agricultural Development Fund and the sector’s attractiveness.

Similarly, the Minister noted that the public-private partnership (PPP) is a key factor for success in mobilizing more investment, reporting the launch of 1,710 projects by the end of 2022, on a total area of about 149,000 hectares, including 77% owned by the state.

In this sense, he said that these projects worth 26.8 billion dirhams have created 76,000 permanent jobs.

The MAP Forum has become a platform for debate on current political, economic, cultural and social issues. It brings together representatives of public authorities and personalities from various backgrounds, as well as media representatives.
