Manama, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, presided over the second session of the council’s third meeting of the sixth legislative term.
The session began with the ratification of the minutes from the previous meeting. Kareema Mohammed Al-Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council, then presented correspondence received from HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, regarding issued decree laws, in line with Article (38) of the Constitution. The decree laws attached are:
1) Decree Law (7) of 2024 amending Article (28) of Decree Law (15) of 2002 concerning the Shura and Representatives Councils.
2) Decree Law (8) of 2024 regarding the approval of accession to various international treaties and agreements related to judicial matters.
3) Decree Law (9) of 2024 concerning the Bahrain International Commercial Court.
4) Decree Law (10) of 2024 amending certain provisions of Decree Law (
15) of 1977 on development bonds.
5) Decree Law (11) of 2024 regarding the regulation of taxes on multinational enterprises.
6) Decree Law (12) of 2024 amending Article (40) of Law (19) of 2006 on labor market regulation.
7) Decree Law (13) of 2024 amending Article (7) of the Judiciary Authority Law issued under Decree Law (42) of 2002.
The council then moved to the next item on the agenda, approving the formation of a committee to prepare a response to HM the King’s address, as proposed by the council’s office.
The committee will be chaired by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, with members including Dr. Jihad Abdullah Al Fadhel, Sadiq Eid Al Rahma, Tariq Abduljalil Al Saffar, Adel Abdulrahman Al Maawda, Adel Abdulrahman Al Assomi, Abdullah Ali Al Nuaimi, Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad, Dr. Ali Hassan Al Shehabi, Ali Abdullah Al Aradi, Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Rumaihi and Dr. Fatima Abduljabbar Al Kooheji.
The council approved the formation of standing committee based on proposals from the council’s office, which were coordin
ated with member preferences. Subsequently, four members were elected to represent the council on the executive committee of the parliamentary group: Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, Redha Ebrahim Monfaredi, Dr. Ali Al Haddad and Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Khuzaie.
At the conclusion of the session, the council was informed of the results of the elections for the chairs and deputies of the standing committees, as follows:
Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee: Lawyer Dalal Jasim AlZayed as Chair and Adel Abdulrahman Al Maawda as Vice Chair.
Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security Committee: Ali Mohammed Al Rumaihi as Chair and Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ali Al Khalifa as Vice Chair.
Financial and Economic Affairs Committee: Khalid Hussain Al Maskati as Chair and Redha Abdullah Faraj as Vice Chair.
Public Utilities and Environment: Mohammed Ali Hassan as Chair and Ejlal Essa Bubshait as Vice Chair.
Women and Children Affairs Committee: Leena Habib Qassim as Chair and Ejlal Essa Bubshait as Vice Chair.
Youth Affairs Co
mmittee: Redha Ebrahim Monfaredi as Chair and Hisham Hashim Al Qassab as Vice Chair.
Human Rights Committee: Dr. Mohammed Ali Al Khuzaie as Chair and Dr. Ali Hassan Al Shehabi as Vice Chair.
