Rabat: Snowfall above 1,600 meters, heavy rain, and strong winds are forecast from Thursday to Saturday in several provinces of the Kingdom, according to the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM).
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, snowfall ranging from 15 to 30 cm is expected on Thursday, specifically from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the provinces of Taza, Guercif, Sefrou, Boulemane, and Midelt. The DGM issued an orange alert bulletin for these areas. Additionally, snowfall between 10 and 15 cm is anticipated in Ifrane and Azilal, while provinces such as Al Hoceima, Beni Mellal, Taroudant, Al Haouz, Tinghir, and Ouarzazate are expected to receive between 5 and 10 cm of snow.
Heavy rain, with a risk of thunderstorms bringing 20-40 mm of precipitation, is forecast for the same timeframe on Thursday in the provinces of Sefrou, Boulemane, Ifrane, Taza, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, and Midelt. Furthermore, rainfall totals between 70 and 100 mm are predicted from Friday at midnight until Saturday at 11:00 p.m. in the provinces of Tangier, Tetouan, Larache, Kenitra, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Ouezzane, Fahs-Anjra, Taza, Taounate, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Meknes, Ifrane, Khenifra, Midelt, Beni Mellal, and Azilal.
In addition to precipitation, strong wind gusts of 75 to 90 km/h are forecast for Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. across several regions. The affected provinces include Kenitra, Larache, Tangier-Assilah, Fahs-Anjra, M’diq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Taza, Driouech, Guercif, Jerada, Taourirt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Berkane, Oujda, Nador, Figuig, Midelt, Fez, El Hajeb, Ifrane, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Tata, Tiznit, Sidi Ifni, and Guelmim.
