Rabat: Snowfall on heights above 1,800 m (5,900 feet), a cold wave and thundershowers are expected across several Moroccan provinces, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said Sunday in an ‘orange’ alert bulletin.
According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, snowfall ranging from 15 to 35 cm (6 to 14 inches) is expected on Sunday and Monday in the provinces of Azilal, Tinghir, Al Haouz, and Ouarzazate. Meanwhile, 5 to 10 cm (2-8 inches) of snow is forecast during the same period in the provinces of Midelt, Taroudant, Beni Mellal, and Ifrane.
Minimum temperatures will range from -05 to 01°C, while maximum temperatures are expected between 04 and 10°C from Sunday to Wednesday in the provinces of Boulemane, Midelt, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Figuig, and Ouarzazate.
Heavy thundershowers, measuring 15-30 mm, are also forecast on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Youssoufia, Rehamna, Marrakech, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Chichaoua, Settat, Khouribga, Benslimane, and Fquih Ben
Salah.
