Strong Winds, Heavy Rain & Snowfall Expected From Thursday to Sunday in Several Moroccan Provinces


Rabat: Strong wind gusts with blowing sand, heavy rain or thundery showers, and snowfall are expected from Thursday to Sunday in several provinces across the Kingdom, the Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) said on Wednesday.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, strong wind gusts (70 to 80 km/h) with blowing sand are forecast on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the provinces of Errachidia, Midelt, Boulemane, Figuig, Jerada, and Taourirt, as stated in an orange-level weather alert bulletin by the DGM.

Additionally, locally heavy rain or thundery showers (20 to 30 mm) are expected from Thursday at 3:00 p.m. to Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the provinces of Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Safi, Essaouira, and Taroudant, the same source added.

Furthermore, snowfall (10-20 cm), above 1,800 meters, is forecast on Saturday and Sunday in the provinces of Midelt, Khenifra, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, and Tinghir, the weather bulletin noted.
