Tanger-Med Police Foil International Drug Smuggling Attempt, Seize over 19K Psychotropic Pills.

Rabat: In a well-coordinated operation on Wednesday, Tanger-Med policemen and customs officials thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs and psychotropics into Morocco. The operation led to seizing a total 19,050 psychotropic pills aboard an international transport truck.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, the truck was thoroughly inspected as part of a routine surveillance operation. The psychotropic substances were found hidden in specially designed cavities within the truck’s cabin. The discovery followed meticulous search efforts, which were aided by intelligence gathered in advance.

The truck’s 36-year-old Moroccan driver was arrested and taken into police custody as investigations continue, with a focus on identifying all individuals involved in the operation, as well as uncovering any possible national or international links to the illicit trafficking network.

This seizure is part of a broader, intensified effort by the Moroccan General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) to combat drug and ps
ychotropic substance trafficking.
