Temporary Closure of Tetouan-Sania R’mel Airport Starting Thursday Due to Heavy Rain


Tetouan: Morocco’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics announced that, in coordination with the relevant technical authorities, it has decided to temporarily close Tetouan-Sania R’mel Airport starting Thursday, as part of its ongoing caution regarding passenger and user safety. This decision follows a thorough assessment of the current situation at the airport, in the wake of heavy rainfall the region experienced in recent hours.

According to Agence Marocaine De Presse, this preventive measure aims to guarantee the safety and security of air navigation, ensure optimal operating conditions for airport infrastructure, and allow the relevant services to carry out the necessary technical work and interventions. A press release from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics emphasized the importance of these actions.

This decision follows the observation of technical data requiring the immediate adoption of precautionary measures, in strict compliance with current national and international standards for air navig
ation safety, and with a view to ensuring the highest safety and security, the same source adds. The Ministry specifies that Tetouan-Sania R’mel Airport will reopen as soon as work is finished and after ensuring that all the required safety conditions have been met, adding that the public will be informed in a timely manner of any developments relating to this situation.
